RESNET Seeking Volunteers to Serve on New Standards Committee

It is the policy of the RESNET Board to have the RESNET standards formally recognized by government agencies for such activities as building energy code compliance and verification of energy and carbon savings. In order to fully achieve this recognition, the RESNET standards process needs to be more in line with ANSI and ISO requirements for consensus standards.

To this end, the RESNET Board of Directors has formed a RESNET Standing Standards Committee.

The charter of the standing committee will be to:

  • Oversee the maintenance of RESNET's standards to ensure compliance with ANSI and ISO protocols
  • Provide periodic review and republication of the standards
  • Oversee the standards amendment and interpretation process

The RESNET Board has elected Michael Holtz of the Architectural Energy Corporation to serve as the chairman of the committee.

RESNET is recruiting individuals who would be interested in serving on this important new standing committee.

The Standing Standards Committee will have a maximum of 15 members. The members will serve staggered 6 year terms, with one-third of the members’ terms expiring every two years. Members would be eligible to be reappointed.

To comply with ANSI and ISO standards, the membership of the Standing Standards Committee requires representation from all major stakeholder groups. There be equal representation from the following three broad stakeholder categories:

  • Users - certified raters, accredited providers, product manufacturers, etc.
  • Governmental - federal and state agencies, regulatory bodies, etc.
  • General Interest - builders, researchers, consumers, building science experts, etc.

If you are interested in being considered on serving on this committee please e-mail Steve Baden at sbaden@resnet.us the following information by December 1, 2008:

  • Name
  • Organization
  • Phone Number
  • E-mail Address
  • Category of Representation Would Represent
  • Paragraph of Why Interested in Serving on Committee
  • Short Bio Vita

The committee chair will review applicants and make a recommendation to the RESNET Board on the composition of the committee and the board will ratify the appointments.
